Canadian Healthcare Technology recognizes Medworxx client Vancouver Coastal Health’s work to produce an estimated millions of dollars in savings.
VICTORIA – While the B.C. government has been fighting criticism stemming from the high incidence of C. difficile at the Burnaby General Hospital, it is also claiming some good news. Namely, the use of lean techniques across the healthcare system is significantly reducing patient wait times and increasing efficiency.
Medworxx Inc. (MWX-X0.25—-%), a leader in clinical patient flow, compliance and education solutions that closed Tuesday near a year high 28 cents, announced a broad partnership with MediSolution, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harris Computer Systems. The partnership formalizes a longstanding relationship between the two companies that worked to integrate their information technology solutions for several mutual hospital client sites. Under the agreement, Medworxx and MediSolution will explore synergies in sales and technology arenas.
Consultant to streamline patient flow
The province will spend $1.8 million to improve the way hospitals figure out who should be in a hospital bed and who shouldn’t.
The five-year contract with the Toronto company Medworxx Inc. announced Thursday aims to free up acute-care beds and reduce waiting times for procedures and in emergency departments.
VANCOUVER – Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) will implement the Medworxx Utilization Management (UM) to provide evidence-based clinical admission and discharge criteria across two hospitals, Lions Gate Hospital and Richmond Hospital.
This 442-bed deal is an extension of a 2009 licensing agreement between Medworxx and Health Shared Service British Columbia (HSSBC), representing all British Columbia Health Authorities. Vancouver Coastal Health encompasses a total of 2,055 patient beds.
